hello!

yea!! it's me! my first post on this blog that I've had for more than two years. call it my maiden voyage:) so a little about me first - I practiced law for 16 years. it was a great job and I was reasonably good at it but I found myself longing for something more creative and less stressful. (ever heard of a relaxed lawyer?? didn't think so.) sooooo, last Fall I took the plunge, quit my job, and have been loving life ever since! my kids are happier, I am happier, the dogs are happier. my husband just looks at me like I have lost my mind.

I LOVE reading crafty blogs. I hesitate to sit at the computer because it sucks hours from me before I even know what's happened. there are so. many. talented. people. out. there! I do not in any way intend to compete or compare to those people. I just want to share my daily struggle to figure out this stay at home mom thing and to balance my family and my creative life.

things I have discovered I suck at as a sahm:
(1) being on time - I am late EVERYWHERE! I was never late when I worked.
(2)keeping up with email - it was so much easier when I sat at a desk every morning. why do I think I can keep up with a blog?
(3) playing barbies. why don't the littles like to sew and look at fabric?

things I LOVE about being a sahm:
(1) being here when my kids get home from school and hearing their stories - good and bad - about their day.
(2) being the one to pick up my now 5 year old from pre-k every day instead of a nanny. what a treat!
(3) I am much calmer. I still get stressed about the laundry because it still isn't getting done (see above description about getting sucked into surfing blogs for hours on end) but at least I am not stressed about a case at the same time.
